Revere Adds Highly-Rated ‘U-Dig-It’ Shovel to Product Line

Revere Supply Company, Inc. announced Wednesday the acquisition of U-Dig-It Enterprises, Inc., the Boise, ID based manufacturer of the U-Dig-It brand of stainless steel hand shovels.
The versatile, lightweight, collapsible and virtually unbreakable hand shovel has been a favorite of campers, backpackers and military personnel for more than 25 years. The U-Dig-It shovel’s primary functions are digging sanitation and cooking trenches. The shovel can also be used as a ladle, cutting tool, fish scaler and even as a signaling device. U-Dig-It is completely US made from ultra-sturdy 304 stainless steel and is remarkably lightweight -- at a mere 6 oz.
The U-Dig-It purchase is another recent acquisition that Revere believes will further enhance their presence in the Recreational Survival Products market. Revere President Andrew Kaufmann commented about the purchase: “Obtaining such a respected and earth-conscious product will be a magnificent asset to our existing product lines. We hope that we can carry the product above and beyond the status it already has.”
Joyce Jackson, co-owner of U-Dig-It, had this to say in an interview about the sale to Revere:
“We ultimately wanted to sell the company to someone that was not only interested in the product, but could also market it as we never could. We wanted the attaining company to maintain the integrity that this product so richly deserves. U-Dig-It began in 1983 by outdoor enthusiasts and environmentalists Milan and Joyce Jackson. The couple had noticed an increasing number of people participating in backwoods sports and wanted an easily-carried “green” product that would eliminate traces of human traffic in the wild. The shovel was patented a year later in 1984. As the first folding shovel in existence with an emphasis on the environment, the product was considered ahead of its time.
