Pains Wessex's 100 years of pyrotechnic production has made them world renowned for their reliability and superior quality products. Pains Wessex flares are up to 30 times brighter than its competition. Designed to withstand the toughest of marine environments, hand-held flares are short range distress signals.
Key Features • For collision warn-off situations • Can be used to illuminate small areas • Easy to operate even with cold hands • Award winning pull-twist-strike firing mechanism • Burns for 40 seconds minimum at 10,000 candela
Applictions
The flare can be used in any signaling situation, but its main application is short range signaling.
Operation
1. Pull ribbed handle to release spigot from safety gate
2. Rotate handle clockwise until two arrowheads align. The signal is now ready to be fired
3. Ignite by striking the base of the handle a sharp blow with the palm of the hand, or on a hard surface
4. Hold upwards and outwards and point downwind
5. Once fully ignited, the flare will continue to operate even if immersed in water
Construction
The hand flare is encased in an environmentally protective steel tube, which also eliminates risk of damage from burning dross. For greater operational safety and comfort, it is fitted with a pull-twist-strike firing mechanism integral with the handle. Water-proofing is achieved without the use of sealing tapes.
